Dr. Allan Cogan is a Periodontist at Assiniboine Dental Group in Manitoba
Dr. Cogan obtained his D.M.D from the University of Manitoba in 1990. Following graduation he completed a one year internship with the University of Manitoba receiving additional training in oral surgery and working with medically compromised patients. After the internship, he continued to work for the university by treating patients in many of Winnipeg‘s personal care homes, at a core area dental clinic and by travelling to remote locations in Canada.
Following five years of general practice in Winnipeg, Dr. Cogan returned to school to further his studies at Oregon Health Science University, where he obtained his diploma in Periodontics. Following his graduation in June of 1998, Dr. Cogan returned to his hometown of Winnipeg and began his specialty practice in Periodontics.
Since his return to Winnipeg, Dr. Cogan has been very involved in the dental community. He has been a part time instructor at the University of Manitoba School of Dentistry, he has served on numerous committees of the Manitoba Dental Association, and also served as President of the Manitoba Dental Association from 2011-2012. In 2013 Dr. Cogan was elected a fellow to the Pierre Fauchard Academy, an international honor dental organization.
