Oral Surgery Services at ADG

Because of a severe dental infection, trauma or crowding, oral surgery may become necessary. Assiniboine Dental Group provides both tooth extractions and root canals(endodontics) at our Winnipeg dental office.

It is wise to see your dentist as soon as possible if you are experiencing tooth pain or you have a broken tooth. Such problems do not always mean oral surgery is the solution. However, our team is prepared to support you throughout the process even after the actual procedure is completed.

Care after Minor Oral Surgery

Sometimes, after minor oral surgery, you may have pain, bleeding and swelling. The Canadian Dental Association (CDA) offers some advice in what to expect and do about the symptoms you may experience. Your dentist is available for advice as well and will tell you exactly what to do to ease the pain, stop any bleeding and keeping the swelling down.

Important Points from the CDA:

If you have any of the following problems after oral surgery, call your dentist or oral surgeon right away:

  • You are bleeding a lot and it has been four hours or more since your surgery.
  • You have the feeling that you are going to throw up (nausea).
  • You are throwing up (vomiting).
  • You have a fever.
  • You have pain that does improve, and it has been one full day (or longer) since your surgery.
  • Your swelling is still getting worse, and it has been two days (or longer) since your surgery.
